Ara Update: fees free trades training / info evening / virtual open week

June 25, 2020
NEW! Targeted Training and Apprenticeships Fund (TTAF)
Recently announced by the Government; the Targeted Training and Apprenticeships Fund (TTAF) will support learners to undertake vocational education and training without fees.

The TTAF will cover fees from 1 July 2020 until 31 December 2022 and will make a range of training and apprenticeship programmes at sub-degree level free for learners. It is targeted towards industry skill needs where demand from employers for these skills will continue to be strong, or is expected to grow, during New Zealand’s recovery period from the impacts of COVID-19.

Ara offers a large range of programmes eligible for fees cover under the TTAF. This includes all our Trades programmes (with the exception of Automotive), our Health and Wellbeing Certificate and our Diplomas in Engineering, Architectural Studies, Construction and Interior Design.

There are many opportunities for free or reduced-fees study at Ara, not solely limited to programmes included under the TTAF. To find out more contact your Ara Youth and Community Development Representative.

Changes to NCEA University Entrance Requirements
Ara will apply the updated NZQA stipulations for NCEA and University Entrance to all entry criteria as per the recent government announcement. Other entry criteria will still apply.  Ara is working through updating our website and other course materials to reflect these changes. Students do not need to do anything different when applying for programmes with a University Entrance requirement.
