Are you customer focused, passionate about the importance of learning to swim, and do you enjoy seeing others reach their potential? The ‘learn to swim’ programme teaches children a valuable life skill and our instructors are responsible for maximising their aquatic learning experience.
We ask a lot of our instructors, as you’re required to set the energy for each class and you’re always on alert. But, in return, you are valued for the amazing work that you do. Our experienced leaders have swum the hard yards and know the energy, effort and passion that goes into every single lesson. Job satisfaction is different for everyone, but when you see the smile on the children’s faces when they succeed in your class, we promise you that the feeling is priceless!
In return for your hard work, we offer continued on the job training as well as quarterly training as a group, and externally recognised qualifications. Each teacher can feel confident knowing that before you’re ready to go out there alone, you’ll have plenty of job shadowing. On pool side, you are always fully supported by your supervisor and team leader
Our programme is split between school hours and after school programmes:
Swim Education Instructors, School Hours – These roles have varied non-regular hours available between 9.00am and 2.30pm Monday – Friday, during school terms. These shifts will usually be two or more hours in length. You’ll be delivering our Swim Safe programme to school groups, including both learn to swim and water safety skills.

Having a teaching, coaching or swimming background would be desirable, however, full training is provided. What’s important is that you’re a logical thinker and are always one step ahead. You are keen to learn and are passionate about teaching people of all ages. Most of all, you will be at home in the water. This programme offers you the potential for growth and other opportunities within our Recreation & Sports unit
