It’s nearly halfway through the year, which means it’s time for you to take your first steps to securing a place at UC in 2021.
Writing a great Personal Statement is important. You need to sell yourself, and to do that you need to identify what makes you different. Every school has sports captains, head students, and high achievers – how will you stand out from all the others?
Here are some tips to get you started:
- Make a list of your strengths and achievements
- Think about how you’ve shown leadership
- List your after-school activities, jobs and/or interests
Now take all the information you’ve listed and use it to create your Personal Statement. You may want to get a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) opinion from your Careers Advisor, teachers, whānau, or friends.
When you submit your applications make sure you edit, revise, and refine your statement to match the scholarship or hall of residence you are applying for.
If you’d like some more advice on personal statements and preparing your scholarship application, register for one of our free upcoming online scholarship webinars (6-22 July) or attend the a scholarship session if we present one at your school.
