Young Women in Public Affairs Award 2020
The goal of this award is to encourage young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to empowering women. For the purposes of this award ‘public affairs’ refers to all aspects of community life where decisions have to be made about issues which real to and affect our local and/or national community.
The Award is made by our club in the amount of $500. We then nominate our clubs winner for the national, Zonta District 16, award and that winner also receives $1,000 funded by our sponsor Kepa Financial Services and US$1,500 funded by the Zonta International Foundation. Zonta International then chooses 10 recipients from all the Zonta District winners and they each receive US$4,000 each. New Zealand nominees have regularly been successful including our nominee in 2018.
